Slain in the Spirit

There is a practice in some churches of being “slain in the Spirit.” Being slain in the Spirit is not Biblical.  There are no instances of anyone in the Bible being slain in the Spirit as practiced in some churches.  When people are slain in the Spirit, they fall backward.  They say it’s the power of the Holy Spirit that throws them back.  But in some churches when a woman falls back, they put a towel or something over their legs.  What they are doing when they do that is accusing the Holy Spirit of causing a woman to be indecent.  The Holy Spirit, Who is righteous and pure, will NEVER cause indecency.  So just by the fact they cover a woman’s legs proves the Holy Spirit has nothing to do with it.

The belief of being slain in the Spirit is a fleshly belief that is all emotion and feelings.  This is easily believed in today’s society of weak people who go by their feelings and not facts.  People are mostly followers and don’t want to feel left out.  They want the attention and the emotional high of being focused on by others when they fall back.  I’ve seen people fall back at church who were newly saved from a life of drugs, just to fall back into drugs within a few weeks of falling back at church.  If the Holy Spirit’s power caused them to fall back, why doesn’t the Holy Spirit’s power at least keep them from falling back into the habits and lifestyle of the world.  The reason is because it’s not the Holy Spirit.  It is a show, and since the show is based on emotion and feeling, those are fleeting things and are not lasting and strong.  Because it is a show and based on outward appearances, the people at church can be fooled into thinking the person falling backward is touched by the Holy Spirit.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.

The Bible must be our basis for our doctrine and what we believe. God’s word must reign over our feelings and emotions. So let’s see what the Bible says about being slain in the Spirit, or falling backwards.

Isaiah 28:12-15, “To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.  But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves.”  Notice in this context, the people who fell backward were scornful liars who made a covenant with death and hell.  Doesn’t sound like they were doing anything good.  God’s judgment was soon to come on them.

John 18:3-6, “Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?  They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.  As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.”  The men who fell backward in this instance were evil men who were coming to take Jesus away.

Matthew 28:2-4, “And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.  His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:  And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.”  These soldiers were definitely NOT sitting there or sleeping. The punishment for shirking their duty was execution (see Acts 12:19).  They became as dead men, so if a person was standing and then they became dead, they would surely fall.  Another instance of those falling back being the evil ones doing a bad work.

Acts 9:1-4, “And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,  And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.  And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:  And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?”  Saul fell also, and he wasn’t doing anything good.  He was on his way to persecute more Christians.

Acts 5:3-5, “But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?  Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.”  This is one instance of someone being slain and falling down, but it’s not what the churches practice, because Ananias and Sapphira were actually slain.  Notice they weren’t doing anything good either.  They were lying to God.

In every one of these instances the people who fell backwards, or fell down, were all doing evil works.  There are no verses in the Bible that mention any Saint falling down as being a good thing.  There are no verses that even imply that the power of the Holy Spirit will cause fleshly feelings or emotions.

A baby Christian who is living in the flesh can be slain in the Spirit.  In reality, even a person who is not born again, but claims to be, can be slain in the Spirit, since it’s all depending on the person falling backwards, not the Holy Spirit.  If the unsaved person wants to feel spiritual, they can go forward to the altar and then fall backwards.  Since this is purely an outward show, this act can fool the people at church, who think that the person who fell backwards is saved and got touched by the Holy Spirit.  In conclusion, being “slain in the Spirit” is not Biblical, but is based on feelings and emotions, and as such, can fool others into believing that the person who fell backwards is very spiritual.

Why a Christian should believe in the death penalty

The death penalty, or capital punishment, should be believed and supported by any Christian that loves God’s word.  Many Christians profess to know and love the Bible.  But few know what the Bible really says about life and every day issues.  At every execution, there are always people who claim to be Christians that are protesting the execution.  They are either very ignorant of God’s word, or are concerned about a man rather than what God’s word says, or are false Christians.  The following short study contains the truth of God’s word concerning capital punishment.

Genesis 9:6, “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.”  This is the main verse to support the death penalty.  Man is made in the image of God.  Therefore, when a person commits murder, he is disrespecting God and the person He created.  He is also disobeying the sixth commandment, Exodus 20:13, “Thou shalt not kill.”

The death penalty is reiterated in Leviticus 24:21, “He that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.”

There is to be no mourning or thought for the life of the murderer, nor hesitation in the execution, whether it is right or not.  That in itself is disrespecting God and His word and His creation.  Numbers 35:31, “Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.”

When a person is murdered, the blood defiles the land.  The only way to make the land clean of the murdered person is to put the murderer to death.  The murderer’s blood will cleanse the land that was defiled by the blood of the victim.  Numbers 35:33, “the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.”

This is also reiterated in Ezekiel 13:19, “And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live.”  God and His word is polluted by not putting murderers to death, by keeping alive a murderer who should not be allowed to live.

The capital punishment should be swift.  When a murderer has been sitting on death row for years and years, it leads to more murders and crime.  Ecclesiastes 8:11, “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.”

The Make-My-Day law is based on the Bible.  Exodus 22:2, “If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.” The person who killed the thief or the person breaking into the home should not be punished or put to death.  The thief’s blood is on his own head.

Notice the thief on the cross and what he said concerning his punishment of death.  Luke 23:39-41, “And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.”  The thief was saying that being put to death was his due reward.  And he was only a thief.  Shouldn’t a murderer’s execution be a more just reward?

Paul told how he felt about capital punishment.  Acts 25:11, “For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die.”  Paul said if he did any crime worthy of capital punishment, he would agree like the thief.  He would submit to the due reward of his crime.

A Christian should believe in the Bible and try to follow it’s precepts and commandments.  A Christian should honor God over ANY person.  Any Christian who disagrees with the death penalty does none of those.

When Jesus Doesn’t Answer Prayer

Many times we’ve had situations that need a prayer answered, yet we don’t seem to get an answer right away.  In those times, we wonder where God is, and if He even heard.  Our study of the situation of Lazarus will hopefully explain what could possibly be happening and why.

Lazarus was sick. John 11:1, “Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.” John 11:3, “Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.” Lazarus’ sisters sent someone to tell Jesus that Lazarus was sick.  They knew Jesus and knew of the many healings He had done.  They were hoping Jesus would come to heal Lazarus.  People today think communication in those days was crude.  Quite the contrary.  They didn’t have cell phones, yet the person they sent to tell Jesus didn’t go from town to town looking for Him.  They went right to where Jesus was, even though Jesus had left Jerusalem (John 10:22) and went to Bethabara (John 10:40, 1:29), which is about 15 to 25 miles from Bethany.

When the person they sent to tell Jesus about Lazarus found Him, Jesus didn’t come right away.  John 11:6, “When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.”  Jesus just stayed there for two days.  What do you think His Disciples thought?  Jesus had healed the man at the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-9), healed a blind man (John 9:1-7) and fed more than 5,000 people with just five loaves and two fishes (John 6:2-14).  His Disciples were probably wondering why Jesus wasn’t rushing to heal Lazarus.  But Jesus didn’t rush.  In fact, He stayed right where He was for two days.

When Jesus finally told His Disciples that He was going to wake Lazarus out of his sleep, He told them He was glad that He wasn’t there – John 11:15, “I am glad for your sakes that I was not there.”  I’m sure His Disciples were wondering what was going on.  Here was Jesus apparently not concerned when told that one of the people He loved was sick. When Jesus was informed that Lazarus was sick, He just stayed where He was at for two days, and then when He did tell them He was going, He said He was glad that He wasn’t there.

Jesus knew that the death of Lazarus would glorify God. John 11:4, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” Mary and Martha were heartbroken at the death of their brother Lazarus. John 11:19, “And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.”  Many people comforted them because of their heartbreak.  When Jesus saw Martha and Mary weeping, even He wept. (see vs. 33-35).

God knows your situation.  You might be heartbroken and need comforting, but God knows what will give glory to Him.  Jesus knew Lazarus was only sick before they even told Him.  But He waited until Lazarus was dead before He proceeded. He waited until it looked hopeless. Are you in a situation where you’ve told Jesus all about it and He doesn’t seem to answer?  God might be waiting longer than what we like.  Maybe God is waiting so He can get the glory.  Maybe He’s waiting until it’s worse.  What would be more miraculous, healing Lazarus or raising him from the dead?  Jesus could answer your prayer now, just as He could have healed Lazarus.  As Martha and Mary were weeping because Jesus didn’t heal Lazarus, you might be weeping and wondering why Jesus doesn’t answer your prayer.  Don’t be discouraged.  Jesus knows what will glorify Him the most.

Street Preaching – Tulsa, OK 12/19/2014

I had some spare time Friday, December 19, 2014, so decided to join some fellow street preachers and do about 15 minutes of street preaching.  Here is a short clip.

Witnessing

Truth From the Book presents a video on Witnessing. A Christian should be a witness to the world, not just in how they live their life, but an actual witness to others using witnessing tools. This video explains different ways to witness and the tools that a Christian can use. Witnessing is commanded by the word of God. You might be the only Christian in the world you live in, be it work or play. May you be bold and witness to others you might come in contact with in your world.

Here is the testimony of a good Christian man who recently got saved in public through the ministry of street preaching.

The World is Getting More Anti-God and Anti-Christian every day!

The world is becoming more anti-Christian every day. Here are just two examples. There are many more.

Here is on article about a Street Evangelist being arrested for preaching at Wimbledon in London.
This is coming to America soon. Christian, what will you do when your choice is silence or arrest? Hopefully we’ll get raptured first. If not, realize that the world has to get to the point of real hatred toward Christians, because during the tribulation Christians will have their heads cut off (Rev. 20:4). Now that SCOTUS has joined Obama, both backing gay marriage, the laws against gay marriage will fall, one after another. Then it’s just a matter of time until preaching against homosexuality will be against the law. Get ready. It’s coming. And it will separate the true Christians from those in sheeps clothing!

Here’s the video. The arrest happens at the end.

Here is a video of two Christians being attacked by homosexuals.
This is what “gay rights” are bringing to America! This is only the beginning! Homosexuals cant stand anyone to have freedom of speech, other than themselves! They want the freedom to PUBLICALLY flaunt their wickedness, but they will NOT put up with anyone else’s freedom!! America is on the highway to hell (Psalm 9:17)!!

(Beware – there is foul language in the video)

Christian, dont be surprised if this happens in America soon. If you don’t use your rights, you will soon lose them. Christians need to be out witnessing in these last, wicked days.
